Kindred Spirits Fancypants Roxanne “Roxanne”

Many people want to talk about the puppy they received, but I want to start off talking about breeders. When we began researching dog breeds several years ago, we spoke to hundreds of breeders from coast to coast. We were looking at several dozen breeds, trying to narrow down which would be the right fit. Stacey at Kindreds Spirits stood out from the rest of the breeders, regardless of the breed we were considering. Where some focused on ribbons and titles, they couldn’t tell you the personality of their dogs as many are housed in kennels and live only to provide trophies. Where others could tell you all about the breed, their references were mediocre. Others were mass breeders either for show or profit and wanted to unload their unwanted castaways on you without any regard to whether or not they will fit into your lifestyle. Stacey takes the time to get to know you and will let you know if her puppies would be a good fit for you. Stacey’s dogs live with her or her family and she knows each one’s personalities, temperament, health and energy levels. Her dogs are what most pet parents want: a family dog that can do anything.

We were straight forward with Stacey about us looking at several breeds and speaking to several breeders. She was cheerful and offered to help us narrow down our list as she had experience either living with or training the breeds we were focusing on. She meant every word of it! We nearly got a different breed with her blessing when something didn’t sound right. By this time, Stacey and I had known each other for many years. I messaged her for advice and she told me the red flags I was seeing was a good indication to stay away and actually sent me information of a reputable breeder! That action alone is what made us decide to get one of Stacey’s puppies.

Now let’s talk about the the Miniature American Shepherd. The MAS can be either your best friend and a joy to live with or a nightmare of behavioral and health problems due to poor breeding. When you get a Kindred Spirits puppy, you also gain a lifelong friend that truly cares for both her puppies and the homes they go into. Stacey truly will support you with any question you may have about your puppy. She will give you loads of references that will tell you versions of the same thing: their puppy changed their lives for the better.

Our vet was the first person to meet our puppy and said Fancy was the happiest, healthiest mini American she’s seen. She was extremely pleased to see her tail and dew claws were intact. She told us this was a well bred MAS. We take our puppy everywhere and people comment on her looks, demeanor and eagerness to please us. Fellow Aussie or MAS owners, both past and present stop us and comment how calm and focused our puppy is and how their dog isn’t that well behaved. We get stopped constantly asking where we got our little Fancy girl from and my husband always beams and happily tells them about Kindred Spirits and why we think she’s the best choice.

What you get when you get a dog from Stacey and Aaron is the happiest, sweetest, most joyful little puppy wagging its little tail 50 mph. She showers you with affection one moment and plays fetch the next. She is so fun to train and picks up on patterns quickly. She knows more tricks than all of our other dogs combined as she craves learning. We got an athletic, agile and quick thinking little puppy that will zoom around looking for adventure. We have a spirited dog that wants to please but is also a touch mischievous. She is sassy, spunky and smart. She is simply a wonderful handful.

Kindred Spirits Blessed By Grace

We were fortunate to have been referred to Kindred Spirits by another national MAS breeder/show competitor who had no available pups at the time we were looking. We’d recently lost our fourth in a lifetime of Shepherds. We had researched and reached out to a half-dozen top notch breeders across the country, all had excellent credentials and beautiful lines, but when we saw photos of Aaron and Stacey Curry’s line/s, we immediately knew theirs were exceptional and no matter how long we might have needed to wait…wait we would. Fortunately, one little girl was available and Kindred Spirits Blessed by Grace (“Gracie”) found her forever home with us and in our hearts. She came to us at nine weeks old and we knew the first night we got her home that she was a brilliant mind and quick learner. Her gorgeous coat, beautiful bright eyes and perfect teeth speak for themselves. What we didn’t know but quickly discovered, was her agility, athletic prowess and keen mind. She wants to take in everything and makes an effort to learn our language as evidenced by her concentration when we speak and that slight tilt of her head as she intently listens. She has the temperament of an angel in a dog’s body….literally the only Shepherd we’ve ever had that loves to hug like a human. Yet, when she’s “working”, she’s all about that. She prefers playing ball to getting treats..play (work) is her incentive. We know that Gracie is unique, but she is because of the time, effort and expertise that the Curry’s put into developing their lines and getting their pups off to a winning start. Their pups are their family and they care just as deeply about their health, happiness and well-being. Knowing what we now know, and given the experience we’re having with our Gracie, she will be a hard act to follow. We will only consider Kindred Spirits and recommend them whole-heartedly to MAS lovers.

Kindred Spirits Francois Du Bonnet “Duncan”

I have found my best friend from Kindred Spirits. Duncan, my mini blue Merle Aussie, is almost a year old and he has brought me so much joy and happiness. I have enrolled Duncan in a couple training classes and he has excelled in each one. He is always pulled to the center by the instructor as the example dog for others to follow. Duncan is smart, loyal, and obedient, while also being energetic, funny, and loving.

I think the way Stacey cares for her dogs and their puppies most definitely impacts their disposition and how they acclimate and adjust to their new families. Stacey is so attentive and caring. I appreciated her consistent communication and YouTube channel where she would share helpful videos.

I told Stacey we were looking for a puppy because we lost our Australian Shepherd, Calvin, a few months prior due to a rare genetic disorder; Stacey was able to provide me with the genetic testing she conducts for her litters! I was so impressed and she was able to quell my fears.

Kindred Spirits Felix “Coop”

We brought Coop home in September 2023. He is a beautiful puppy with a blue merle coat. Coop is very agile and incredibly smart! He is great with our 4 kids and our 2 year old dog, Cash. While he is very energetic, he also likes to snuggle on your lap and give lots of love.

Stacey has been nothing short of amazing throughout our journey with Coop! She has been very helpful and responsive for any questions or concerns we may have. After first speaking with and meeting Stacey, it was clear that she truly loves and gives great care to her dogs! We are so happy we chose her to help us with bringing Coop to our family!

Kindred Spirits Echo Jax Goll

We adopted Jax "Echo" when he was 14 weeks old and it has been a wild ride ever since! An Aussie with a tail was a must and we actually wanted one with brown eyes. This was surprisingly not very easy to find but we finally got our wish with Jax! He is the sweetest, smartest, most loving dog who fits in so well with our family. He loves playing with our 8 and 4 year old daughters and any dog he sees. Besides being with us, the outdoors is his favorite spot.

We've had a few hiccups along the way but Stacey has been ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE to work with! I literally can not say anything negative about my experience with her. Not only has she been fully invested every step of the way on our journey with Jax but she checks in just to see how our family is doing as well. The care and concern we get from Stacey is top notch and anyone lucky enough to get such a sweet pup from such a wonderful breeder is truly blessed! Kindred Spirits Enzo Giuseppe Ferrari

My husband and I started looking for a mini Aussie with a tail (a tail was a must!) a couple of years ago. We thought long about the “when” to be sure we were ready to be good parents. I kept looking online in the mid Atlantic area and came across Stacey Curry and Kindred Spirits MAS. She had a potential litter around 2020-21, and I inquired. But with job and other life changes, we decided to wait. Stacey was understanding and knew that her pups had to go to people fully ready and engaged. She was particular about her babies. She kept in touch, so when a litter came up in Summer 2022, we were ready!
The experience we had was excellent. We knew we wanted a small breeder and she fit the bill in every respect. The sire and dam were available to us to meet, as well as the pups. They were bred and kept in a private home, with lots of love, socialization, and exposure to lots of stimuli. They were evaluated/documented with record keeping. Stacey answered all my questions, provided the genetic testing and did the AKC Reg info. We knew these little pups were healthy!
We were lucky enough to have pick of the litter, and the choice was tough! They were all gorgeous and so well adjusted. It was a toss up between two, and on Stacey’s recommendation we chose based on personality with us vs looks. (We orig thought we wanted a Merle, but got a lover boy in our Tri Enzo! He actually picked us! )
We couldn’t be happier with our puppy now 8 months later, and I have no hesitation in recommending Kindred Spirits for anyone looking for that special breeder for Aussies with a tail!

Kindred Spirits Blu Breka

We were so lucky to have found Kindred Spirits and worked with Stacey Curry to find the perfect Miniature American Shepherd for us. We welcomed Kindred Spirits Blu Breka to our home on August 22, 2022 when she was 8 weeks old and we have had so much fun with this wonderful dog ever since. Breka is a beautiful blue merle MAS with a ton of personality. She is so smart and clever and we have all had a blast in Puppy School. Breka passed basic obedience with flying colors and has moved on to agility, dog disc and dog parkour. Breka is particularly skilled in disc catching and frequently draws an audience at the park! Not only is Breka a natural athlete, she is super social and such a cuddler!

Since our first inquiry about a puppy Stacey has been supportive, always available for questions and advice and loves to get updates on Breka’s life. Stacey worked with us to match us with our best fit puppy, considering Breka’s temperament and personality with our lifestyle and experience. Kindred Spirits Deacon Vonn Volkl (Deke)

We began to look for a MAS after one of our two Newfoundlands passed away in August 2022. We were fortunate enough to find Kindred Spirits on the AKC website. We reached out to Stacey to inquire about a puppy that was part of a litter on her website. Stacey spent time with us on the phone to find out about us and what we were looking for in a puppy. After speaking with us, she recommended another puppy from the same litter that she thought would be a better match for us. She could not have been more right. Deke’s personality and energy level fits our lifestyle perfectly.

We picked Deke up in September. He is an amazing dog. We had an 8-hour drive home, and he did great in the car. He immediately made friends with our other Newfoundland, and they have been great friends ever since. He is a very happy boy. He loves to run and play fetch. It’s really impressive how fast he is. After a good workout, he loves to go down and stand in the lake. When not playing ball, he loves to be next to or on top of us. He’s very affectionate and loves to cuddle.

All of Stacey’s puppies live in her house. This helps them get used to sounds they are likely to hear during the course of a day. She has games and toys that help build confidence from a very early age. Deke literally hit the ground running and has brought us endless joy since becoming part of our family.

Stacey was wonderful to work with. She answered all our questions prior to picking Deke up. She sent pictures and videos so we could watch Deke grow until we were able to pick him up. She sent us home with a bag that contained some food to get us started and some toys that she thought Deke would like. We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Kindred Spirits and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a well-adjusted and healthy MAS.

Kindred Spirits Chia Chance Milo

Our puppy, Milo brings us so many laughs with his adorable eyes and ears. We can always tell what kind of mood he’s in just by looking at him. He’s super athletic and loves to hike and learn about nature (birds). He does great during car rides, he especially enjoys making friends with people through the drive through window. At home, he does great with our two cats whenever they choose to be social. The only downside is that Milo absolutely believes himself to be a lap dog and will lay on top of you!

We highly recommend Kindred Spirits for anyone looking for a new fur baby! In particular, we really appreciated how much information and testing they did to ensure our Milo was going to be healthy. They also gave us advice and a starter bag which we were very thankful for!

Kindred Spirits Brave Valerian

Our puppy, Valerian, is the sweetest, most lovable guy! He’s so beautiful and very smart too. He has been so great with obedience training! He is very gentle with our toddler and also loves our German Shepherd. We can tell that Stacey took great care to get him ready to come home with us and has top of the line breeding practices! If we’re ever crazy enough to add another dog to our home, we will definitely be going to Kindred Spirits!

Stacey was so accommodating when we reached out to her about meeting a few pups we were interested in. Kindred Spirits Dogg Thilo

To anyone considering Stacey as their dog breeder, I highly recommend her. Our dog Thilo, whom we got from Stacey as a puppy, has brought so much joy into our lives. He's an energetic, playful and loving dog who loves living in Colorado.

Thilo is always up for an adventure, whether we're exploring the mountains or simply enjoying the outdoors. He's become a beloved member of our family, and we couldn't be happier with our decision to adopt him.

What's even more amazing is that Thilo has now made two new friends, Kleo and Felix, who are kittens we adopted after him. Despite being much smaller, Thilo has taken them under his paw and they've become inseparable. It's heartwarming to see them cuddled up together, and we couldn't be happier with how well they all get along.

Darwin is a smart and energetic bundle of fun. After all the fun and games he is small enough to cuddle up on your lap.

He is easy to train, and loves the mental stimulation. When we go on walks his herding instinct kicks in and he tries to herd us all.

Stacey has been great following up with support and advice, answering any questions we had. Highly recommended!
